I remember Johnny Rotten saying that they never ment to dress like they did because they wanted to show something, they just had to, and whole uniformisation of this culture is just ridiculous. Hence, what matters is what you are not what you're trying to be..

A pirate I was meant to be,
Trim the sails and roam the sea!
i like the idea behind this, i mean, i've never really dressed to stand out or go with a trend, but, i've always been different in the things i do and way i act.
It's annoying when you've been dressing this way for about 5 years, and now it's become "popular" or whatever. I am always seeing kids dress in the goth/punk/emo stereotype, yet none of them truly identify with the subculture they are trying to convey. To alot of thm, it's not about being different or individual anymore, it's about fitting in with a certain crowd.
